The First Tee Military Affiliate Program

CHILDREN OF NATIONAL GUARDSMEN AND RESERVISTS WELCOMED

AT THE FIRST TEE OF NASHVILLE FOR A NO COST PROGRAM

The First Tee of Nashville now offers golf instruction combined with character and life skills education to children of National Guardsmen and Reservists for FREE. Times of mobilization and extended deployments for National Guardsmen and Reservists can disrupt their lives and those of their children. During these challenging times, The First Tee and its 200 Chapters across the country are proud to partner with the Department of Defense and extend no cost golf and life skills instruction to the youth of our National Guardsmen and Reservists.

Children of National Guardsmen and Reservists are invtied to participate at The First Tee of Nashville to learn valuable life and golf skills from trained coaches. There are five levels to The First Tee Life Skills Experience and youth of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to participate.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to introduce our positive youth development programs to children of those serving in our Armed Forces,” said Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., chief executive officer of The First Tee. “The First Tee Life Skills Experience teaches young people core values such as honesty and respect as well as important life skills such as managing emotions, goal setting, interpersonal communication and effective conflict resolution.  The program goes far beyond teaching fundamental golf skills.”

The free program aims to positively impact children of Guardsmen and Reservists that reside in 200 civilian communities across America.  Registration for our next session is Saturday, February 27, 2010 at VinnyLinks Golf Course from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. A parent from the military family can sign up at The First Tee of Nashville or download a voucher at www.thefirsttee.org/military and bring it on Registration Day.

“Parents, teachers and communities have embraced our mission after seeing firsthand how the core values associated with the program help young people succeed,” said Barrow.  “We expect to have a similar level of meaningful impact on the children of service members.  When you think about the sacrifices being made by the men and women serving in the defense of our country, supporting this group of young people and military families with these types of programs is tremendously important.”

For Active Military, Fort Campbell offers The First Tee Program on base. Please call the number below for more information on that program.
