The First Tee Tutoring Program is free to partipcants of The First Tee. Tutoring takes place on Thursdays at VinnyLinks. The participant's and their tutors meet at times that are convenient to the both of them. Each student is assigned their own tutor, that works with them each week. This one to one ratio, and consistency of instruction is one of the formulas of our program's success. Below are some stories of our Participant's Progress.
One 12 year old gets tutored in Math, Language, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. It switches each week depending on in which subject(s) she "asks for help". Before she started working with her tutor she was making B's, C's, and D's. Since November, she has improved one letter grade in all areas. When asked about her tutor, she says, "He is kind. When I ask questions, no matter how many questions I ask." "He always helps when I really need it." She ended by saying, "Anybody who needs help in school, definately join the Tutoring Program!"
A 4th Grader has asked for help in several subjects. Before she started the Tutoring Program with The First Tee she was making grades from A's to F's. She is now consistenly making A's and B's in all subjects.
We also have a 16 year old who is getting help in Pre-Algebra. Before starting Tutoring he had a 67 average in Pre-Algebra. He has raised that average to a 92!
We are so proud of our Participants! We have some dedicated, hard working participants not only on the Golf Course, but off the course as well!
